Susan Harrison is the Chief Financial Officer and Co-founder of Helping Heroes, Inc.: A Center for Veteran Resources. She graduated from Edinboro University with a BA in Criminal Justice, where she was a scholar athlete and member of the women’s swim team. From there she moved to Pittsburgh, PA and worked assisting children with mental health care needs. She moved to Morgantown, WV to pursue her MSW and MPA degrees. After graduation, Susan worked as a therapist for the Monongalia County Youth Services Center and at the Monongalia County Child Advocacy Center as the Coordinator of Interview and Community Services. Her job at the MCCAC entailed providing investigative interviews, case management and case tracking as well as supervising volunteers, assisting with grant tracking and being a community liaison. During the past 15 years, Susan has led and grown the CASA for Children Inc. organization to include 4 counties and 2 court jurisdictions, serving more than 550 children.
In 2010, Susan and her husband founded Helping Heroes, Inc. a program providing a ‘hand up’ to veterans needing housing stability assistance in the Northern Panhandle of WV.
